Red Sox Look to Take Division Lead

There was no question that when the reigns to the Boston Red Sox were handed over to new GM Dan, he had a clear vision for the team. "The Boston Red Sox have a rich history of producing winning teams. When I came into this position, I wanted to make sure that continued." Dan made some key moves to start this season that seem to illustrate that he knows what it will take.

Boston landed All-Star slugger Miguel Cabrera and all-around stud Hanley Ramirez to highlight an active off-season. "Despite the fact that we had to give up some young talented prospects, we have created an outstanding line-up that should not only worry opponents now, but for years to come." The General Manager is certainly right there, because not only is this a star-studded line-up, but it is a young one too. Only one starter in the line-up is over the age of 30.

While pitching has been a struggle for the club due to early injuries, things appear to be calming down. A recent trade seems to have really solidified the club's bullpen, when the Red Sox acquired hard-throwing Jose Valverde from the Chicago Cubs. This seems to have given them a great arm to help anchor down the 'pen.

After winning 20 games in June, the Bo' Sox already have a strong start to July, and look to take the division lead in the coming weeks. The question remains though, do we think the Red Sox have any surprise moves planned for the trade deadline? "I wouldn't count on it," commented Dan, "although you never know what to expect from a Boston sports franchise. If a big name becomes available, you can always expect to hear of us in the running to acquire them. We are very happy with our roster, and feel we have a combination that should give any team in the league a run for their money."
