State of the Organization Address

After speaking with the GM of the Reds, it seems like they are heading in a direction similar to the Tampa Bay Rays of the early 2000s. GM Jon said earlier this week in a press conference, "Cincinnati had a lot of talent last year, but I inherited a team with talent and no wins to show for it. I made a decision to build the organization from the ground up. Most successful teams not named the Yankees build from within the organization. If you look at the twins with Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau, the Brewers with Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder, that's how I will bring back the Big Red Machine."

Now I, for one, do not believe that this new GM will have this team competing for the next few years, but I happen to have a lot of faith in his philosophy and I am willing to give him a chance. He has rebuilt this farm system with some incredible prospects including Lee, Weeks, Betancourt, Kuczynski. It's not an immediate fix, but I've got to say I do have my hopes up. Lets Go Reds!!!

  2. How many of those have had an impact enough to win a batting title, MVP, Rolaids Relief award or Cy Young? I only see 2.

  3. This list is much longer, I just went off the top of my head with it.

Mariano is the best closer in the history of baseball, and he was home grown. Jeter has had MVP considerations, if you didn't remember he finished second to Morneau a few years ago. Pettitte has had Cy Young considerations. All those players are good quality players (except melkey) This is a much bigger list then most teams. This is a much longer list of talented players then Morneau and Mauer who are home grown.

  4. Remember that those players came from the early to mid 90's. Most people talk about the days that started with the Roger Clemens signing. The new era of the Yankees where they only buy talented superstars who either are a huge bust or only average for the time they sign, with exceptions to A-Rod, Teixeira, and C.C.
