Giants Rumblings

Intense negotiations concluded late Sunday night between the San Fran Giants and the Cincinatti Reds. GMs Scotty and Jon talked throughout the day and night regarding a deal that would send Chris Heisey to the Giants. At approximately 10:30 EST time, the deal was done. Here is how the deal shook out:

Reds received:

RF Andy Konruff
SP Manuel Banuelos
1B Eric Hosmer
Cash considerations
Giants received:

RF Chris Heisey.

San Francisco's GM Scotty was quoted as saying "This deal was a step in the right direction for the Giants, as we look for success in 2013. We see Heisey as a perfect #2 hitter in front of Thomas (Neal) and behind Mark (Olesen)." When asked for his opinion of Astro's GM DJ's comments stating that there is no way the Giants will contend in 2013, Scotty said "DJ is a dick... Who cares what he thinks anyway" (After those comments Scotty was fined 50K.)

Cincinnati Reds GM Jon cited the prospects he received as to why he pulled the trigger. "They are all doing well in the minors" he said. "Also, they all have that potential to jump, making them much more attractive" When asked what he sees from Konruff down the road Jon said "I see him being anywhere from Mark Teixeira to a switch hitting Todd Helton, well balanced who can also hit the ball out of the park, with great fielding."

New rumblings suggest that Scott is still looking to improve his club. "We are looking to improve the team anyway we can...Obviously Second Base, Shortstop and the Bullpen are needs. This week should be very interesting for us... Don't be surprised if you guys see a move in the next 24-48 hours."

With that... Scott had to go take another phone call. Don't be surprised for the Giants contend or even take the West in '13.
