A New Face in the Red Sox Organization

Boston --- Former GM, fink, who showed signs of inactivity in the office and lack of willingness to compete in the division, was fired on July 15. By a surprising announcement, he was immediately replaced by a young man, called danpac47. danpac, who previously worked in an accounting firm, with no experience running a professional sports team whatsoever, fans in Boston started to wonder what sort of impact this could have on the organization. danpac, however, is confident that despite his rookie status in the office, he promises not to just succeed expectations, but excel in them.

In his first press conference as Red Sox GM, danpac says the following in his opening statement.

"...thank you to Boston for giving me this once in a lifetime opportunity. I will never forget this day as I take part of the great Boston Red Sox organization. I know many people have their doubts about me taking over, but at the end of the day, it's going to be about us - the team, not just me. As long as I'm here, I will do my absolute best to bring another championship to this wonderful city and the fans. I realize the amount of talent we have and I began to think to myself how lucky I must be. Obviously the Red Sox have been struggling as of late, but I'm hoping that will change in due time. I don't know what the future has planned for our ball club, but like i always say, time will tell."

Time will tell is right. We don't know what to expect out of the New GM in Boston, especially with the trade deadline just around the corner. However, the biggest issue right now for danpac is getting the team out of financial debt. According to sources, the Boston Red Sox are close to $10M over budget, with no cash in the wallet. With his prior knowledge for money, danpac knows the importance of managing finances, and will soon learn that it's only half the battle. danpac recently lowered ticket and concession prices, healthcare expenses, as well as salaries for minor league coaches, in hopes to relieve the situation. But of course, expect danpac to make more moves, but this time, regarding the team. No players have been mentioned in possible trade talks at the moment.

The Boston Red Sox are currently (50-53), and twelves games back in the division. By going 8-12 in the last twenty games, with a team ERA of 5.00 - danpac needs to decide quickly what they're going to do. With the rest of the AL East playing better baseball, one might conclude that the Red Sox are no longer contenders. But like danpac said, only time will tell.
