Boston --- After spending his entire 10 year career in a Red Sox uniform, all-star first baseman Kevin Youkilis, finally had enough. No one expected the 34-year old to decline negotiations with Boston and surely fans soon became restless.
Red Sox GM, danpac, was quite upset about the matter. "Listen, anytime you lose a player of Kevin's talent only to see him test the free agency market, it's quite insulting. And to top it all off, he signs with the New York Yankees. "
Youkilis denied to comment about his departure.
Playing in his last year of his contract, Youkilis had 23 HRs, 83 RBIs, and a .298 batting average. Youkilis who hit in the cleanup spot of the order while with the Red Sox, will surely be missed not only in the clubhouse, but in the city.
Youkilis will now join Babe Ruth, Roger Clemons, and Johnny Damon as the Red Sox players who betrayed their city to join the New York empire.
It's going to be interesting to see how the Boston Red Sox will handle the absence of Youkilis. But with the signing of international free agent, Shin Osamu, the Red Sox are confident that the 31 year old from Japan can get the job done at first base.
Osamu signed a $49.5M contract that will keep him in Boston until 2019.
