Predrasa Shipped to the Big Apple, Turns Page in Pittsburgh

In a press conference today, July 1st 2026, The Pittsburgh Pirates announced that SP Alfonso Predrasa was traded to the New York Mets for prospects P Walter Thomsen and C Charlie Wedell. GM Peter admitted that although baseball is a business, it was truly and emotional decision to move Predrasa. After a horrific start to the season and at a crossroads of the franchise, Ownership and GM Peter decided it was time to put their focus into the farm system.

GM Peter said during the press conference, "This is truly a moment that signifies the turning of a page for the Pirates and I am very pleased to have the support of the ownership behind me during this tough time for the franchise." New York will be inheriting "the majority" of the remaining money owed to Predrasa.

The Pirates have seen the likes of SP Edgar Vaio, Vlad Castrejon, Jim Cote, Dan Vanhouten, and now Alfonso Predrasa all shipped elsewhere this season. The direction of the team is now blatantly obvious ad the Pirates will be trying to build a winner. GM Peter, when asked about the future of the team, said, "We have always been committed to our player development, to spite the number of trades this season we have a lot of young talent in the majors and close to the majors now. Brighter days are not too far away."
