2048 Hall of Fame Inductions

3B Jose Vargas - 20 seasons from 2029 to 2047

Inducted with 94% of the vote

Notable Distinctions: 2,007 Hits 1,457 R 412 2B 544 HR 1073 BB 106 SB .243/.333/.504 6 All-Star Games, 1 Gold Gloves

Why he's in: Well let's start with what Jose does best:  Only one other hitter in the history of FCM has hit more homeruns than Jose Vargas.  (Sean Vogel)  His 544 homeruns outpace names like Steve Miller and James Aitkenhead.  Jose didn't have the sweetest batting average of all time, but the man did one thing and he did it very, very well.  He's one of only 7 players to eclipse 1500 RBI, he had over 1000 walks in his career, and happened to be an outstanding fielder for most of his career.  He was the protection in the lineup that allowed Sean Vogel to go on to have a legendary career and was central to 4 World Series Titles.

His General Manager: As my team developed in the late 2020s I could see I had some building blocks - Boz, Eickholt, Vogel, Munroe, Vanmeter, and several others.  What I felt I needed was a guy that could sit in the middle of my lineup and make it truly deadly.  With my recent draft choice Paul Turkenitz I found the perfect guy to target in Vargas.  It cost me Turk, a good deal for both teams, but I would make that deal 100 out of a 100 times.  Vogel-Vargas-Munroe made for a heart of the order that punished pitchers for over a decade and racked up over 1700 homeruns in that stretch.  Jose was always underappreciated taking a backseat to the other star power on the team, but he was one of our true greats in Toronto.

SP Tobey Horton - 23 seasons from 2024-2047

Inducted with 94% of the vote

Notable Distinctions: 309-173 Record 3.16 ERA 0.70 HR/9 1.41 BB/9 5.48 K/9 .246 OBA 10 All-Star Games 6 Gold Gloves

Why he's in: Take one look at the win column and it's hard not to see why Tobey is getting in.  309 wins is topped only by his teamate Demont "D-Train" Williams and the great Donovan Pace.  The six gold gloves would probably make you think Greg Maddux and it's an apt comparison - Tobey was the Maddux of his generation.  Not an elite strikeout pitcher, but excellent control, kept the ball in the park, and ate innings for over 20 years.

His General Manager: Horton was a player that come day of the draft that I remember being giddy about. I thought I drafted a special player and he did not disappoint. He was a legit ace of my rotation and was the starting point in my rotation to build around. Once I had him in place the other dominos came in around him.

CF Peter Carson

Inducted with 94% of the vote

Notable Distinctions: 3,466 Hits 2,019 R 568 2B 156 HR 1278 RBI 1161 BB 661 SB .328/.397/.444 6 All-Star Games 3 Gold Gloves

Why he's in: Again...look at the hits!  We're on a run of one-stat shoe-ins and Peter's was as much a gimme as any player in recent memory.  His 3,466 hits are almost 400 more than the next closest man Jose Vasquez.  He's the only FCM player ever to record over 2,000 runs scored.  His career .328 batting average is ridiculous and he was a pivotal part of 4 World Titles.

His General Manager: One of the first things I look for when I build a team is someone at the top of the lineup to set the table. I was really lucky in my rebuild of LA to come across Peter Carson at the top of the draft. Once he showed signs of being ready for the majors, I brought him up and never looked back. He was the starting point for many years of my offense in LA.

SP Giovanni Villareda

Inducted with 100% of the vote

Notable Distinctions: 309-112 Record 2.89 ERA 0.70 HR/9 2.86 BB/9 8.49 K/9 .212 OBA 3620 K, 34 CG, 21 SO, 15 All-Star Games, 3 Cy Young Awards, 3 WS rings

Why he's in: One of the top few pitchers in FCM history. He led the turnaround of a team that went worst in the league to one of the best year in and year out for 10+ years, winning 3 rings along the way. 300+ wins, under 2.90 ERA, .212 OBA, 3620 K’s, the stats go on and on. Put him in the best pitchers ever tier, right behind Donovan Pace.

His General Manager: He was my 2nd ever first round pick in FCM, and although I got a lot of crap for taking him, I could not be happier. This dude is Prime Time G, one that I hope none of the GM’s here will forget. There’s a reason I bought me a Villareda T-shirt. This guy was the real deal, and I am proud to call him a lifetime Phillie.
