Most Valuable Player:Carlos Lee
There was slim pickings when it came to an MVP, but Carlos Lee was the old "One Eyed Man in the Land of the Blind" in this case. He led the team in HR (24), RBIs (88), 2B (26), and Games (154). I think when you have to cite games played in the MVP category that's enough said.
Cy Young Winner:Matt Lindstrom
One of the lone bright spots was the powerful arm of Matt Lindstrom. He saved 35 games for the Astros despite the fact that they only won 68 games. Along with that he struck out 58 batters in 69.2IP and posted a respectable 3.49 ERA. He was the bright spot for the regular Astro pitching in 2010.
Rookie of the Year:Jason Castro
Castro came along earlier than anyone expected and held down the 3 spot for most of 2010. Not many 22 year olds are asked to do that and he still hit .264 with 15HRs while catching nearly a quarter of potential thieves on the base paths. He should be a big part of whatever the Astros do for years to come.
Comeback Player of the Year:Matt Capps
After being non-tendered by the Pirates last winter the Nationals took a chance (and the Astros later acquired) the right hander. He finished the year with a 3.73 ERA, 77Ks in 79.2IP and 13 saves. For his efforts he received an extension from the Astros last month.
Relief Pitcher of the Year: Matt Lindstrom
For many of the same reason's he won the Cy Young he's the Astros reliever of the year. Gervacio's 2.95 ERA and 89 strike outs almost won him this award, but saving nearly half of your team games is a feat to be lauded. So Lindstrom gets two trophies for his case this year.
