David Eckstein Joins the Pirates

PITTSBURGH- The Pirates made a few off season signings, most notably signing the aging veteran infielder, former World Series MVP David Eckstein. Most GM's would say that Pittsburgh heavily over payed Eckstein, do to the fact that he is aging and his numbers are declining. Pittsburgh was the only team to even give Eckstein an offer of six million over two years. "Eckstein is a true player, and his presence is invaluable." said Pittsburgh's GM Jordan. "I have been a fan of Eckstein for along time, when I saw that he became a free agent, we just had to sign him. Eckstein has a great faith driven personality, along with a desire to win. He shows his dedication to the game and his life every day. This is a young team, and Eckstein is just the guy I want showing the young guys how to play baseball the way it should be played. How to play the sport with passion, and try to win every day, along with how to be humble and have a realistic outlook on obsticle that comes our way. The way Eckstein plays is just the way I want Pittsburgh baseball to be for years to come."
The Pirates also signed RP Lance Cormier during the offseason.
