The Cubs come into 2011 with much optimism about a redone roster. Midway through last season the cubs acquired Andy LaRoche to play first base from Pittsburgh. Then they obtained Aaron Hill from Toronto and Hideki Matsui from the Angels. Then in this offseason the every day lineup picked up the speedster Austin Jackson to set up the table for this lineup.

The rotation last season was very inexperienced and one pitcher from last years staff remains in the rotation in Luke Sommer. The cubs acquired Brandon Marrow from Toronto in their mid-season push. Then in this offseason they obtained Fautino De Los Santos from the A's. Then in deals with the Tigers they obtained Rick Porcello and Justin Verlander.
