It's the End of It ALL

We knew this streak of playoff appearances would end some time. We knew these players weren't going to be here forever. But what we really wanted by the end of it all was a World Series ring. The first two signs that the end is near came down last night when the Dodgers struck a deal with the Yanks for Kershaw and struck deal with the Royals for Bruce. We didn't see this coming. Sure they were in the slum, but kirby was known to strike a deal that would help improve his team. Last night a sign of change. When I got the word that Kershaw was being traded, I couldn't believe it and when I heard it was to New York, it gave me a reason to hate them even more. It seemed kinda weird to know that the next time the Dodgers would hit the field, Kershaw wouldn't be with them. He's been the face of LA for a while now in the baseball world and it seems wrong to see him in pinstripes. But if it makes fans feel better, we got this next generations Roy Halladay or Tim Lincecum. The philosopher (nickname in New York), Yosvani Garcia, is now a Dodger. This kid is so good for his age. It's scary to think what he's going to be like in 2 or three years and he still won't be old enough to have some of the champaigne after a Dodger clincher. Dodgers said he will report to the AAA team this week and be considered for a september call up. The end of an era has come, but the beginning of a new era has just begun.

Not only did they get the future ace in the Kershaw deal, but they also got Yosvani's future catcher. He is 22 year old catching spec Christian Betancourt. Here's a quote from Kirby talking about these two.

"You know, I really like this deal. We get our future catcher, Chrsitian. We also get our future ace, Yosvani. These two will be side by side in the minors and be called up together in the majors. We want Betancourt to be Yosvani's personal catcher. We want these two to build a strong friendship that will translate to the field. We want these two to work well together."

Should be interesting to watch these two and the RP specs they got in the Bruce deal and Aldea in this deal. Remember fans, This era has ended, but a more exciting new era has just begun.
