Interview with Jordan, General manager of the Pirates

Q: Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to come talk about your team
A: No Problem
Q: Okay, Let's start...What are your expectations for your team this year?
A: Well, after acquiring Dunn and Adams, I am hoping that they will help me get closer to the top of the tough division I'm in.
Q: So many people has been asking, what your rotation will be...What will it be?
A: Cody Adams will definitely be my Ace. Ater that there are some decisions to be made. It looks like it might be Adams, Pedrasa, Alderson, Marks, Wilson. However that is 3 righties and then 2 lefties, I'd rather mix it up. I also have more options at SP with Girouad, Boston, and Jesson. I should have a better picture of what the rotation will actually be after spring training. Though it is good to have a lot of depth. This should be the best rotation I ever had.
Q: So Tim Alderson from Ace and cy young winner to a #3 starter?
A: Well, Alderson is still coming back from a bad injury. So we will have to evualate where he will fit. Adams has pitched very well in Milwaukee and Pedrassa pitched very well the previous season. I thought of moving Alderson to 4th and mix up the lefty/righty order of my rotation but I do not feel that Alderson deserves to slide that far. He's only a couple years removed from a Cy Young Winner. (Alderson suffered a torn achilles on July 19th) It was our fault for over working him. We felt with Alderson being our best pitcher, our best chance to win would be using a 4 man rotation. Alderson is not fully recovered from the injury yet and should miss the 1st half of Spring Training.

Q: Will your team compete this year?
A: Yes I believe so. We have been in contention the last 2 years. Cincy and Houston are both tough and Chicago should be tough this year too. I'm not worried about STL or MIL.

Q: What will make your team so hard to beat this year?
A: Well with the addition of Dunn and Adams, we hope they show the way to our young talented players to step up on the next level. I think we will have the best rotation and lineup in 2016 than we have had in over 20 years.

Q: Now for around the league, who will be the top 2 teams in each division?
A: Well it is hard to bet against the yankees for the Al East. I think Baltimore could sneak back into it too, they will be my number 2. For the AL Central, I think the Royals, Mike always finds a way to make them compete and I think Detroit will come in second in this division. In the Al west, OAK, and LAA, I don't think Seattle is ready to mix with OAK and LAA yet. NL east I think there won't be a change, FLA, and NYM. NL central, hard to bet against Dejota I will say HOU and CHC. I don't think Cincy will perform that well this year and his rotation will be one of the worst in the division. And the NL west will be SFG and SDP. Arizona should be 3rd this year because his lineup is just too weak.

Q: What do you think of Seattle's GM? Did he wait too long to fire Wakamatsu?
A: Haha, yea I remember stating that when Seattle finally did fire Wakamatsu a season or 2 ago. Though Seattle is now on the right track. Though I am worried if their 5 young starters don't pan out they might be in trouble. I think they need to keep on finding good talent to keep their team running.

Q: Will the Pirates be in the playoffs this year?
A: I again think only 1 team will come out of the NL central. Due to the division being so competitive that we will keep each other's win totals in check. I don't know if we will make it but I think we have as good of chance as the other top teams in the NL central do.

Q: Thank you for taking your time doing this and Good Luck this year.
A: Thanks man, good luck to you too.
