Interview with the jps39, General manager of the Cincinnati Reds

Q: Hello, thank you for taking time out of your day to come talk to me.
A: No problem, glad I could help.

Q: OK Let's get started, What are your expectations for your team this year?
A: Well, right now we are hoping to be in the same spot the Marlins were last year. We don't expect to run away with such a tough division, but we definitely think we can win it and put up a fight in both September and October if we make it that far.

Q: What will make your team so hard to beat this year?
A: Well for the last few years we have had a high powered offense, but our defense was outstanding last year, providing our organization with 3 infield gold gloves. We also have a veteran ace in Webb and several talented pieces in our rotation and bullpen. If we stay healthy we should be a problem in the NL Central.

Q: What will be your rotation next year?
A: Right now our anticipated rotation will be: Brandon Webb, Kyle Heckathorn, Greg Mainwaring making his NL Debut, Chorye Spoone, and Luke Hocheaver.

Q: I see that you have acquired numerous of players in the off season by trade, I will throw out the names and you tell me how he will help you this year
First off How will Jory Fernandez help you?
A: Jory was with the team 2 years ago and put up some good numbers, but we felt that he would be more valuable somewhere else. Last year he did the same thing. We think he can be very important, but maybe not until September, unless we have some big time injuries.
Q:Kelly Dugan?
A: Dugan may be a great piece for my team. He provides depth to our outfield, a solid pinch runner, and a decent bat to add.
Q: Billy Butler?
A: Billy was the biggest acquisition for us this off season. We were sad to see our developing rookie Craig Toney to go but butler will provide some added production to a deep offense. Butler can put up some great numbers in our park as well as provide protection for Evan Longoria.

Q: Now for around the league, which teams will be the top 2 teams in each division?
A: We think the Yankees and Red Sox will be the 2 forces that top the AL East, in the central, Detroit will win it and the Chicago White Sox will be a Sleeper. In the AL west we will see the Los Angeles Angels on top and the SEATTLE MARINERS upsetting a few to make it to 2nd. In the NL east, Florida will win their division and the New york mets will contend for the Wild Card, we will win the Central and Pit will sneak into 2nd in front of Houston, and San Fran will again win the West with Arizona in 2nd.

Q: Is winning the central a guarantee?
A: Oh not at all. We are determined to take the title from Houston, but they are are the team to beat right now. Until we knock off them, they will be the winners of that division. It will be tough but I think we have a good chance.

Q: Thank you for taking your time to talk to me. Good luck this year.
