LAA Draft Review

Before we can analyze the LAA draft, here are the trades made by the LAA.

LAA Trades Ben Revere for Atlanta 5th, 6th round and Larry Salm

In this trade Revere was not in the long term plans, he is an aging player. So I cut his salary and pick up something that possibly can help in the future.

LAA Trades SP Santos Macies (71/88), Jason Pool RP (63/82) 5M for Detroit 1st, 3rd, 4th and 6th round picks

In this trade, I felt that Macies was not going to be a 1 or 2 in my future rotation. I grade Macies as a late 1st round, to early 2nd round value and Pool as a 3rd/4th round value. So I pick up 2 more prospects and get to replace them with prospects I feel will fit my system better.

LAA Trade 12th Pick and Charlie Knight (70/89) for Cincy 8th Pick and 3rd Round

I saw a player that I targeted in this draft still on the board. Knight was viewed by me the same as Macies, I wanted to get that player that I feel can be a future ace. So I get the player I had targeted and add in a 3rd round pick.

LAA Trade 15M for Texas 2nd round, 3rd round and 4th round pick

I would have paid a little more and feel I got these 3 picks at a value.

1st Round SP Tobey Horton - player I had targeted in this draft. 17 years old with 81 health. He already has 83 control and a 60% Ground Ball. He also has movement at 63 and power at 57. Tremendous vitals for a 17 year old.

1st Round SP Micah Regaldo - 20 year old with 86 health and 55% GB. I like that he has his power up at 61 with that high GB. Not something you see often, hopefully he ends up with 80+ control, Power and Movement with a high GB %.

2nd Round RF Elvis Velorde - Elvis is already 22 years old but I loved that his birthday passed in April and that he is a high contact guy 77 rating already. He also has 70 eye and 70 power. He could possibly be a low 90's contact with 80 power and 80 eye.

2nd Round LF Nate Toll - I reached on Toll a little. I did not think he would be there at my 3rd round pick and I like his youth 16 years old will be 17 in July. Probably my worst pick in the draft but he is a high risk/high reward that I felt I needed to roll the dice on.

3rd Round RP Shawn Tinsley - 20 year old RP with 55% GB, 66 movement and 86 health
3rd Round SP Earl Gillon - 17 year old SP with 50% GB and 79 health could develop as a back end SP.
3rd Round 2B Drew Adams - Loved his speed 87 rating to go with good base stealing vitals he is only 20, could be a starting 2nd base if he can get his contact and eye to come around.
3rd Round CF Adam Wolfe - Another speed guy 91 rating with a 73 eye at 20 years old.
4th Round RP Steve Rogers - 68 control, 66 power 73 movement and 60% GB. Might get stretched to a SP.
4th Round LF Marcus Cases - 16 year old with 80 health, another long term project that I am hoping time can give me a favorable jump.
4th Round RP Brian Suter - 20 year old RP with 50% GB and 62 power and 3 pitches. he is going to get stretched into a SP. Will either fit in as a back end SP or MR/LR
5th Round RP Marc Clements - Another 20 year old RP with 50% GB with 62 power and 3 pitches. going to get stretched out.
5th Round RP Dave Thornton - 21 year old RP with 65% GB with 3 pitches, going to get stretched out.
6th Round C Elvis Wolfgang - had to take because of the name.
6th Round 1B Steve Teter - one of the highest power hitter rating wise left in the draft.
6th Round RP Matthew Weaver - RP that hopefully takes a jump at some point.
