Interview With the 2040 World Champion Blue Jays GM

1. Who is the Most Valuable Player in your team?

Answer, "Undoubtedly our team MVP is Sean Vogel. And it's been that way for 16 years now. He's an elite defender at every infield position, he's hit over 500 homeruns, has a career batting average over .300, 2400 hits, 13 all star games, 5 MVP awards, 5 gold gloves, 7 postseason MVPs, and 5 world titles.
The man is simply the best player in the game and our team's primary leader. If I had to make a second player, one that everyone might not expect, it would be the criminally underrated Philip MacGruer. P-Mac is a 6 time all-star, 5 time champion with 2300 hits, a .307 career batting average,
and over 600 stolen bases. Last year he had one of the best years of his career and helped carry the team to a title."

2. Who do you feel will be your biggest challenge in the AL East this year?

Answer "The East is in a transition. Baltimore had to unload a lot of talent (including one we are excited to have on board!), New York is still rebuilding, Boston needs to rebuild, and Tampa is still looking for a few pieces.
Our biggest challenge is ourselves - playing up to our talent and delivering what we are capable of."

3. Will we see the Blue Jays get any FAs? If so who?

Answer "No, our depth is exceptional this year. We have solid pitchers ready to step up and a deep and talented bench. At this point, we won't be adding any FAs. The only outside acquisition will be our trade for James Anketell. We are giving up Stalwell, a player we paid dearly for, and a 5th round pick that made it big in Chad Noah. Fortunately, we have depth at middle infield and adding a slugging right-handed 1B is addressing a vital need."

4. Do you think the Jays will win the 2040 World Series?

Answer, "Yes. Last year we won without one of the league's top starters - Fernando Ontario and one of the best up and comers Andy Kamp. Throw in games missed in the playoffs from Jorge Vendor and it's a shock we survived. Our offense lost Samuel Marquez, Nick Vaisman, Theo Fitt, Brett Stalwell, and Trevor Johnson for long stretches last year. Losing both your MLB caliber catchers is hard to overcome but we did it.
We expect with Vaisman and the healthy starters we'll have the league's best pitching. We also feel like we have the league's best combination of speed, power, and defense.
If we can get past Minnesota, Chicago, Texas, Houston, and maybe Seattle....we can take anyone in the NL. Sean Vogel's right hand is filled, let's get one for his left thumb!"
