Nationals Welcome Fresh Faces for 2048

Gianluca hitting a baseball really far

This offseason has been quiet on the Free Agency front in the capital with exception to rumors that the Nationals were involved with the bidding on star free agent and two-time World Champion first baseman Jim Davis whom eventually landed with the Minnesota Twins on the richest annual baseball contract ever by a huge margin. To spite striking out on the shallow free agent market; the Nats continued to pursue trading avenues and eventually landed the power hitting star from Tampa Bay. His name is Gianluca Marfil for those readers who are unfamilar and what he does on the diamond is hit baseballs very, very far. He is known for his streaky hitting but the hope is within Washington management is that putting him in the middle of a formidable lineup will lessen the pressure on Gianluca and that he will truly shine in a Nationals uniform. Gianluca is a plus defender and has the ability to play all outfield positions and first base.

Lloyd impressing the ladies with his excellent form
The other big addition for the team this offseason was adding veteran Lloyd Pengelly from Detroit who already has many fans in the beltway area after his heroic playoff appearances with the Baltimore Orioles. Lloyd provides them with a reliable starter to follow up the many aces of this pitching staff and will be a great influence on the younger arms in the organization.

Nationals fans have a lot to look forward to with these veterans added to the fold as the team seeks its first ever World Series championships and fans in the capital hope that these two can be the missing pieces to the puzzle.
