2048 1st round Redraft and review

I decided to look back in time five years.  This review is of the 1st round of the 2048 draft.  Only the 1st round was looked at.

If I was to redraft this 1st round here is how it would look:

1. Bongard SP (62/91) Currently 91/95.  Originally 2nd pick
Picked by Detroit.
Has the makings of a true number 1 SP if he can limit his home runs.  Many SP in this first round are giving up a lot of HR.

2. Danbury SP (63/87) 92. 6th pick
Picked by San Diego.
Great vitals and pitches.  If he didn't give up so many HR he could be a hall of famer some day.

3. Norris SP (72/93) 92, 1st pick
Picked by Cincy.
Not a thing wrong with him except again to many HR.  Best lefty in the draft.

4. Ahearn 2b (71/86) 93. 8th pick
Picked by Oakland.
Switch hitter. 99 contact. 97 eye.  87 speed.  Plays a premium position.

5. Szubinski 1b (71/86) 93 7th pick
Picked by Oakland
Vitals out of this world.  47 HR and 146 RBI one season at the age of 23.  Only reason he is not higher is because he is a 1b with 63 health.

6.  Eckles SP (61/85) 90 9th pick
Picked by San Francisco.
Another great pitcher in this draft.

7. Travis 3B (57/91) 84/94 4th pick
Picked by San Francisco.
Has not peaked.  Great contact hitter and plays great defense and 3b.

8. Dollard CF (67/83) 90 Pick 30.
Picked by Saint Louis.
Great contact hitter who will score 100 plus runs a year.

9. Thomas OF (63/93) 80/93. Pick 5
Picked by San Francisco.
He could move up in this draft if he continues to improve.  Picks above him are more sure things.

10. Sinnott SP (65/90) 80/92.  Pick22
Picked by Kansas City
He has yet to develop a great pitch.  Best ground ball pitcher in the 1st round.

11. Aspuria 2B (65/93) 87/94. Pick 13
Picked by Pittsburg
Lefty with good contact.  The rest of his vitals suck.

12. Beard SP (57/91) 84/94. Pick 3
Picked by  San Francisco.
His numbers look back because he was rushed to the majors.  If  he can overcome his poor performance so far, he will be good.

Picks worthy of Mid 1st round consideration:

Kelley RP (49/81) 81/90. Pick 28
Picked by Detroit
Converted to SP.  Vitals and numbers aren't looking like he will become anything.

Craven 1B (61/88) 81/86. Pick 21
Picked by San Francisco
Switch hitting power hitter that at age 24 still could become something.

Picks worth a late 1st rounder:

Woodcock OF (77/93) 84. Pick 16
Picked by Colorado

Hynes SP (57/83) 84. Pick 18
Picked by San Francisco

Santillan SP (52/84)  78/85. Pick 19
Picked by Kansas City

Fiske SP (67/91) 89. Pick 29.
Picked by Toronto

2nd round worthy picks:

Tito OF (73/95) 83. Pick 10.
Picked by Chicago White Sox

Cortes SP (51/93) 51/85. Pick 15
Picked by Minnesota

Dickie OF (65/87) 86. Pick 25
Picked by Washington

Candelera OF (63/84) 83. Pick 27
Picked by Seattle

3rd round worthy:

Bushnell 3B (68/87) 84. Pick 14
Picked by Houston

Keene 1B (66/88) 81. Pick 24.
Picked by Baltimore

Therrien SP (56/86) 71/79. Pick 26
Picked by Seattle

4th Rounder:

Hertz CF (67/83) 79.  Pick 20.
Picked by San Francisco.

5th Rounder:
Monarca (73/91) 79. Pick 11
Picked by San Francisco.

7th Rounders:
Baldwin (64/84) 69/75. Pick 17
Picked by Baltimore.

Shaw SP (67/82) 73. Pick 23.
Picked by Cleveland.

Undrafted:
Smith SP (63/85) Out of baseball.
Picked by Detroit.

Best Pick of the 1st Round:
Danbury, San Diego
Was the 4th pitcher taken in the draft and could go down as the best pitcher in this draft.

Steal of the 1st Round:
Dollard, Saint Louis
Last pick of the draft originally becomes my 8th pick in the draft.

Biggest Reach in the 1st Round:
Kelley, Detroit (49/81) 81/90.
Looks like that reach worked for Detroit according to the peak change in the player.

Worst Pick of the 1st Round:
Smith, Detroit (63/85) Last seen in a alcohol rehab facility ran by Josh Hamilton.

Recap of this 1st round draft in 2048:
First 9 picks of the original draft were all talented players.   After that there were only six players that would still be considered 1st round talent.

This is the year that San Francisco had 8 picks of the first 21.  What did they get?  6 players that are still 1st round talent.  They didn't get a true all-star player but this draft definately helped their rebuilding.

My next project is to look at a past Hokey or Andy Draft Class Review.  See how well they handed out grades.   Until next time, "May all your cards be live, and all your pots me monsters."
