The First GM Into the HOF?

The 20th season is almost in the books and with the recent news that the league might start a HOF for the GMs we caught up with the Rays gm and got his insight on who might be the first one in.

"It's DJ, no question about it. What he's done for the league and with the Astros how can he not be the first one. He's done so much for this league, it would be hard not to put him in even with the team's success. You throw Houston's success in there and no question it should be DJ."

Houston is a four time World Series champion (2012, 2016, 2023, and 2025). DJ is tied for first with the most titles (Sean, gm of Angels, also has 4). Houston's reign is most likely coming to an end.

"It will be different to not see Houston in the playoffs this year. They have been a sure-bet for years to be in," said Kirby on Houston.

Houston is on pace to tie or set a new low since the 2011 record of 85-77.

Here is the list of potential candidates:
DJ- Houston 4 time Champion
Sean- LA- 4 time Champion (2 Angels, 2 Cubs)
AndyP- 3 Time Champion
Hokey- 2 Time champion

It remains to be seen whether or not the Hall of Fame gets started. All four are deserving candidates, not because of the success with their teams, but what they have done for the league.

Also of note, the trade deadline is Thursday. Keep checking back for updates and any moves that the Rays make.

  1. Championships will not be a huge factor in who gets into the hall. It is really centered around the GMs who have help FCM grow to a 20 season league.
